It's mind-boggling but totally possible to see such historically-important and culturely-rich documents as the Magna Carta, Leonardo DaVinci's notebooks, Javanese manuscripts, and many more books, maps, and drawings completely for free in one place! There can all be found in the Sir John Ritblat Gallery at the British Library, just up the steps to the left when you go in via the main visitor entrance. There are also some comfortable seating areas, free internet, and other objects of interest in the vicinity outside of the gallery (like the philatelic collection and an old printing press seen in the photos below). It's definitely worth a visit and is also a good option if you need somewhere dry and warm to hang out prior to catching a train from nearby Euston, King's Cross, or St. Pancras International.
