This week I was able to visit the Museum of the Home (formerly the Geffrye Museum), one of my favourite museums, which reopened on 12 June after major renovations during their three-and-a-half-year closure. They now have new Galleries on the lower ground floor and have redone some of their "Rooms through Time" spaces. There is a much improved reception area and visitor facilities and everything is more accessible. The entrance is now opposite Hoxton Station and there is also a cafe to enjoy a cuppa after touring the exhibits. Changes to Grade 1 listed, 300-year-old buildings are never simple or straightforward, but here they have greatly improved the experience for the visitor without detracting at all from the charm and uniqueness of them museum! Do go and visit as soon as you can- it is well-worth it! You need to book a timed ticket and there is a one-way system in place.
